Aly Eltayeb is the Co-Founder and CEO of Shift EV, an electric mobility technology startup electrifying fleets in emerging markets through proprietary battery technology. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering (2015) and MBA (2017) from MIT, where he conducted carbon capture research with Professor T. Alan Hatton. Before founding Shift EV in 2020, he was employee #8 at Form Energy leading business development, and served as CEO of Afrikan Heroes. Shift EV has raised $9M in Series A funding from Union Square Ventures, Algebra Ventures, and Wamda, marking Union Square's first MENA investment. The company manufactures Lego-like modular batteries to retrofit conventional vehicles into EVs.
